This is a section dedicated to telling you a little bit more about what I'm working on in my free time.
Volunteering is one of my favorite ways to spend my free time. One of the things I'm most proud of is my volunteer work with the D.C. Center for the LGBTQ+ Community. I facilitate a few support groups, help with queer elder luncheons, and LOVE volunteering during our pride month efforts. I also work with Coders and Codepath to teach frontend web dev to middle schoolers and give technical interviews to undergraduate students in need of extra technical interview preparation.
Biology has always interested me, and I've found working with plants is the perfect way to channel my curiosity. Caring for plants is calming and I highly recommend it to anyone who could use a little greenery in their life. My favorite plants are philodendrons and strings of things; they're both easy to take care of (and absolutely stunning).
In addition to plants, painting, writing, and knitting are very close to my heart. I love creating art inspired by the queer/feminist experience and my overwhelming love for all things pink and sparkly. My creative writing leans more towards the horror genre, while my poetry runs the spectrum of reclaiming childhood experiences to expressing my love for the people around me.
My 2024 tech goal is to become more knowledgeable about AWS resources. After getting my Solutions Architect Certification last year, I want to take this year to apply my learnings. This website is hosted through s3 with a cloudfront distribution. I also utilize AWS's pipeline resource to publish website changes. In my current job I use cloudformation to provision resources for large scale deployments and am hoping to apply some of that thinking to further streamlining my website.
